Introduction

I’m Seri Notetree. I live in The Netherlands and my professional background is in the utilities industry. My native language is Dutch so I hope I will be forgiven if anybody notices the facts that my English isn’t perfect…

I would say my life is a quite regular one. When I’m not working or tending to my home life, I love to read books, paint and study whatever I discover I don’t understand (I absolutely HATE not comprehending stuff and will get obsessed by informing myself until I do understand, whatever it is I don’t understand. I am told that it’s not my most fun characteristic…).

I have been watching others using the internet for quite a while now. I do belong to the generation who one day wandered the earth without phones and internet. So while I have been watching the story of connectivity unfold from having just a phone at my house with a little cable on it, to now being connected to everyone, everywhere, all the time (voluntarily and forced) I came to the conclusion that it’s time to also contribute.

So I am starting a blog and I am venturing into the world of social media. I did choose to not contribute as myself. I want to talk freely about my personal thoughts and the things that happen in my life, because it is what mainly influences how I see the world. But I believe that we still don’t have a good grasp on how to protect our privacy and the privacy of other on this worldwide medium. And not everyone has the same principles of free speech we strive to in The Netherlands.

I believe it’s easy to point fingers at everybody else about everything that you think is wrong with the world. But it is a greater challenge to step up do something about it, in the way you think would be best. So after countless sighs about the short-sightedness, unkindness, intolerance of what people seem to choose to contribute to this platform, it was time to step up.

If I think I can do better, then I better prove it in stead of just watching and complaining. The only thing is, I don’t really have a ‘subject’. So I am going to treat this blog as a diary and place where I share information I think is important to share. And maybe nobody will ever read it, but if someone does, with a bit of luck wherever something is being read, there is no sigh but a smile…
